I'm listening to Castle of Sorrows and I have to ask - did you wrestle in college? And if so for where? In recent years I have become a college wrestling fan since my alma mater's team is amazing (Go Penn State!), and I got such a kick out of Castillo's little speech about being a college wrestler and Teddy's comment of: "I never did like the Hawkeyes," so I had to ask.

Great question! I didn't wrestle. I was definitely more the basketball build, so that was my sport. I did have friends who wrestled, however, so I drew a bit on stuff they'd say. And as a teacher, I've had several colleagues who coach wrestling, so that influenced COS too.

Hi Jonathan, I thought Savage Species was one of the best horror novels I have read. I was wondering how you went about developing some of the characters for this series? Was it it difficult to 'kill off' some of them or do you find it is an integral part of the story in order to inspire fear and threat levels?
