I have only just figured this out but I need to stop working through writers block by writing. When I do this, I end up having to scrap or rewrite huge portions of my story. I know that I need to step back, and read or watch something else. Whether it's picking up something on my TBR or bingeing old episodes of CSI, it helps me get out of my own head.
