MR PETER HARDCASTLE

Joy Ellis:
Having read the Nikki Galena series, the Matt Ballard series and the DI Jackman books I have just finished 'An Aura of Mystery' which is totally different. Is Fenchester based on an actual town/city? Are there any more Nikki Galena books in the pipeline? I was born in Grantham during the war and at the age of 80 I now live in Surrey - actually not too far from Compton Peter Hardcastle

Hello Peter It sounds like we have travelled a similar route, only in reverse, as I lived in Surrey (Great Bookham, Walton-on Thames and Leatherhead, worked in Weybridge), and moved to Lincolnshire, not too far from Grantham! And as to the present, I am working on the next Nikki Galena book right now, and unlike Fenchester that is fictional, (although not unlike Spalding), Greenborough in the Fen Series is based on Boston, with its river, the fantastic 'Stump' (St Botolph's parish church, the tower of which can be seen right across the Fens), the wonderful architecture and old cobbled alleys. Sadly it's changed over recent years, like so many towns that have lost their High Street shops, but Greenborough stays the same. Delighted that you've read all of the books... it seems I need to write faster! Kindest regards, Joy

Hello Joy: I thoroughly enjoyed your book "The Murderer's Son" which I just finished on Audible. I do have a question that I was hoping you might comment on? The story begins with discovery of the farmer's body, the first murder victim. Then there does does not appear to be another reference to this character. Progressing through the book, the "murder count" seems to totally ignore this poor man.

I just love both series, but Nicki’s stories are wonderful. I’m reading Hidden on the Fens atm as an ARC. Just adore both series, the characters are so well rounded, they feel like family! I really don’t know how you think up such complex stories? I try and savour them, not read them too quickly. I also like the way the two series interact with each other, maybe Rory will help out Jackman or vice versa.

I’m looking forward to binge-listening to your Jackman and Evans series. Richard Armitage has an incredible voice! My question: why does Audible recommend listening to Lost Daughters before The Murders Son? Usually I read a series in the publication order. What order do you advise?
