Goodreads asked P.J. Davis:

How do you get inspired to write?

P.J. Davis I write best when I clear out the channel and get rid of the noise. The mind is a very busy place but the genesis of creativity often comes from the quiet corners of that busy mind. In other words the story arises and reveals itself. I often find myself thinking "Oh! Is that how it happened?" or something to that effect.

Some experts preach practice and discipline and pounding out x number of pages per day. And there is merit to perfecting the craft. But inspiration comes from an entirely different place. Sometimes you have to be patient and wait for it.
