The scene played better on screen without it. We went into the process thinking, "What are the critical things we need and can't lose?" We didn't say, "How can we cram every single detail no matter how small into the show?" The scorpion is something we talked about, but ultimately decided it didn't add enough to the episode and actually became a distraction in a scene that needed to be about Percy's heart-wrenching discovery about Luke.

Hi Rick, as an elementary school teacher I’ve always loved how diverse the characters in your novel are – ethnicity, gender, and learning differences. I especially love that through Percy readers are able to see how students with dyslexia and/or ADHD think differently and creatively. My question is, will any characters in The Sword of Summer have learning differences?
