I was wondering what the chamber(the one with funny air pressure) will and Chester find at the start of this book is, is it related to the Styx (as I think we're to believe) and if so what is it? Sorry if this has already been explained Thanks

(view spoiler)[Hi Moods - that's a very good question and up until now I've always baulked at giving an explanation for that chamber. Back in 2005 when I was going through yet another edit of The Highfield Mole (before it was renamed Tunnels) I talked to Barry Cunningham of Chicken House about giving an explanation for it later in the book (or in Deeper), and he suggested that I just leave it in as some sort of mysterious red herring. But here goes, for the first time: my idea was that it was constructed as a memorial for the very first Colonists who had lost their lives as they were excavating and building the Colony with Sir Gabriel Martineau - hence the names carved on the faces of the bricks that Will and Chester saw. But then I took it a stage further that the Styx had protected the chamber by incorporating a type of defence mechanism in it - the dimensions of the chamber were designed to amplify any disturbance in the air ... to the point that intruders would be driven away. Hello, I am the proud owner of copy number 10 of Summerhouse Land. It quickly became one of my favorite books because of its intake of what happens after. So my question is, what sparked the initial idea and how did you give form to this place that is far from the traditional concept of heaven or hell? Thank you very much for answering. Kind regards. Alexandra.

Dear Mr.Gordon, Actually, I don't have a question..Except maybe for the one more book in Tunnels series, but I've read your answers on that type of questions. I just want to ask you, if you have some free time, to read my comment on last question that you answered down there. It's a bit long, that's why I couldn't write it here. You can make comment here or mail me if you want (woolf13@live.com). Best regards, Vuk(?)

Hello again, I recently read the Tunnels series again, and got my friend hooked on it too. Its been nearly 6 years since the publication of Terminal, and I was wondering if you and your publisher were still kicking around the idea of a 7th and final installation in the series. I had one last question, how did you feel, or go about writing the deaths and relationships between characters in the series? Thanks, Nick.
