Hi, Mr. Carr, I just finished rereading the Staff & Sword trilogy again, and I have a couple of questions for you! First: in A Cast of Stones, when Martin, Luis, & Cruk realize Rale's true identity, they have mixed reactions. Is there an explanation for what Martin's past disagreement with Rale was about? Second: do you still have a newsletter? Your website seems to be down, so I couldn't find a place to sign up.

First, thanks for reading! Second, my newsletter is down. The demands of my day job and life were too much to continue.
Rale's backstory (hinted but not explained) is that he disobeyed direct orders of the church during a military campaign because it would have put his men in danger. Martin and Cruk saw this event differently which explains their mixed reactions.
