Hey Jonathan! I just want to say that I loved The Dismemberment. When reading it and looking through a couple other reviews, everyone is saying how much this reminds them of an old school Hammer Horror film. Was that your inspiration? Because it could work as one (you should also nudge them into adapting it, lol). Anyway. I loved it, and I was wondering if you were going to return to the gothic horror route again? :)

Thank you so much for this question and your kind words, Andi! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. My inspiration was probably all the classic horror I read (particularly Shelley and Poe), as well as many of the classic horror films I watched. This story really flowed easily onto the page, so I figure the seeds were in me a good while.
As for returning to gothic horror, that's a resounding yes! I plan on doing another novella in this vein (not with the same characters, but with many of the same characteristics, like a gothic setting, time period, and voice). I just have to find the time to write it. :-)
Thanks again, and have a great night!

So, I just posted a review here on your 'The Darkest Lullaby' and I think you should check it out....I am getting ready to film, and post the video review on my Youtube Channel; AreYouIntoHorror today. I have been reading horror for over 50 years, and this is the BEST Vampire/Cult book I have ever read! Where the hell is the sequel!!!!? Richard

Hi Jonathan, I thought Savage Species was one of the best horror novels I have read. I was wondering how you went about developing some of the characters for this series? Was it it difficult to 'kill off' some of them or do you find it is an integral part of the story in order to inspire fear and threat levels?

I just finished your novella and LOVED it (I am Jen from Quebec-- we've spoken on the horror group thread about how we both enjoy PLAUSIBLE horror) Anyways, I am now on to the book, and WHY did you choose THAT person to be the Sweet 16 Killer? It just (in my mind) does not make any sense, especially as he was painted as such a sweet, caring uncle...even RON would make more sense....I guess I am just asking WHY HIM?
