Goodreads asked E.B. Barrett:

How do you get inspired to write?

E.B. Barrett I no longer devote the time I once did to sitting still for the Muse, those few years when I wrote twice daily, and the pages flowed easily and profusely. Now, the Muse uses krav maga moves to get my attention; stories knock me down during intense project meetings, when I'm caregiving, or when I'm driving. I do my best to hold onto them until I can render them on the digital page. Sometimes I know the trigger--a furtive glance between people trying to deflect attention from their attraction to one another, or a piece of visual art--but often the idea arrives fairly whole when I'm focused on something else and I don't know the trigger. I do know that I'm happier and healthier when I write, and that I need to go back to making time for that process.
