Ashwin It was mentioned early on that he appeared in the previous book and helped Stephen. Even Donna and Bogdan mentioned him early

Hanna When Elizabeth and Stephen were abducted in the previous book, Elizabeth noticed how Stephen was checking the book case where they were staying. When asked later, he did not remember but then did that what he saw were very rare books that - now I am not sure - were stolen and Kuldesh provided the answer.
