V-girl
V-girl asked Gail Carson Levine:

Hi Gail! I've wondered about this for a while... Char reports to Ella while in the court of Ayortha that the nobility hardly speak to him or each other. But that doesn't seem to ring true, because when Aza from "Fairest" is at court, the nobles seem to have plenty to say. How can this be understood? Are Ayorthians just quieter around delegates from other kingdoms? Or is there another reason?

Gail Carson Levine Hi! I don't have a good answer for you, but I'm glad to get the question. People in FAIREST are as chatty as they are anywhere else, and I knew when I wrote it that I was contradicting ELLA ENCHANTED. But I had no idea how to write a book about people who hardly ever speak. I had to let it go.
