When and where do you write? Are you disciplined about your writing time?

Anna Faversham Yes, I am disciplined about my writing time, even so, it is very easy to get side-tracked. I set aside 15 hours a week, which isn't as much as I'd like. As I write historical novels, if the telephone rings it jolts me right out of the nineteenth century, then I decide it's a good time to make a cup of tea. Or my grown up family arrive, or... I expect we all know what it's like. And once that allocated time has gone, it's difficult to replace it.

When do I write? When I can be sure of silence. With one exception - when my husband is playing his guitar somehow it sets the mood. It's how we met, you see.

Where do I write? I have a room set aside for all things 'officey'. I work from home, it used to be full time but I have trimmed it down to part time. Now I am busy chucking out the old life and filling the filing cabinet with writing related matters.

Thank you, Alice, you've made me see I need to be much more disciplined with that 15 hours!
