I read Long Gone and loved it. My question pertains to how you go about writing - do you have the whole book planned out or do you figure it out as you go?

Alafair Burke Your question is so well timed! I'm in the middle of my next book, and, oh, how I wish I had it all planned out. No, I'm not a planner. I know who did it and why, but from there, I let the characters dictate how the truth unfolds. I tell myself it's a good way to make sure that character is integrated with plot, but it's probably not the most sane way to work. It's the only way I know how to do it, though.
