How do you get inspired to write?

Brian Wilson This is an excellent question for a short story writer. In my case, I have written over 90 stories to date. Ideas give me the inspiration, but where do these come from? Many come from my own experiences in life while others, like in my story 'The Empty Room' (which is in my latest book to come out next month), was from a really weird dream. Stories often just come into my head and I have already three lodged there, ready and waiting for a fourth book. Sometimes I can go dry for several months and I find the same situation in writing poetry.
