I didn't understand the ending. (spoiler alert) Casey, the interviewer, asked Avery for the real story. And then it ended. Other than the fact that Avery voluntarily stayed with Marian, she became a real captive. Was there more to her story?

But as you point out, she became a real captive & did save herself from being murdered, so the "real story" won't have much impact, & is therefore a weak ending.(less)
