It was Patricia's mother (not Adrianne) who told her "two can keep a secret only if one of them is dead" and that's exactly what she mentions to Adrianne right before ending her life. Also, in the epilogue, she mentions it, yet again, revealing the fact that she's even ready to 'erase' the love of her life - the one that she adores so much - her very own husband, if it meant safeguarding all of their evil & dark secrets.
