Emma answers “I didn't fully understand the ending with...”

I didn't fully understand the ending with the whole "two can keep a secret if one of them is dead, that's what my mother used to say." Was Adrianne Patricia's mother? It's even more confusing considering how Patricia earlier on in the book says how she didn't understand how Ethan was not close to his parents because she however "spoke to her mother almost everyday"???!?!?!!!! Did I miss something?

Emma She said that to imply that she was willing to kill Ethan if she sensed he might give away their secret. Adrianne wasn't Tricia's mother. Tricia quote…moreShe said that to imply that she was willing to kill Ethan if she sensed he might give away their secret. Adrianne wasn't Tricia's mother. Tricia quoted that line earlier before she killed Adrianne and so she's saying it again to indicate that she is willing to kill again to keep her secret.(less)
