I agree, I think she is the bookshop itself. I hadn't thought of the real world consequences of that, who was paying Martha etc. Definitely a book to read with your heart, which is my favorite way to read anyway!!

As one reviewer said, you have to read with your heart not your head! I think she is like the shop itself, she only exists if you believe in her. Not logical, but little in this story is.
