Do I have to read The Shining before I read Doctor Sleep? I Bought Doctor Sleep today and I didn't know it was a sequel to The Shining. So, do I absolutely have to read the shining first or not. Plus is Doctor Sleep scary as everyone says ?

I just don't think Doctor Sleep would have the same heart-wrenching effect on non-Shining readers. (less)
