Roxy had an anger disorder and because Brooke didn’t leave with her, she just went off. Like when she crushed the kid’s hand in primary school.
Jennifer Hoffman
The motive for Roxy to kill Brooke was because she wanted her to quit school and run away with her but Brooke wanted to stay in school and go to prom. Walter never did the things he was accused of with the sexual abuse.

I think Roxy figured out that Brooke had become involved with Walter & that's the real reason she attacked Brooke at school & their friendship ended (not because she wouldn't leave town with Roxy.) On the night of prom, Brooke thought Roxy was already gone, & came over to see Walter, but Roxy was still there & flipped out. I believe Josie was telling the truth about some things!

I’m not sure if anyone here has read the bonus chapter (I’ve just finished the book and it came with the bonus chapter, so I’m not sure when it was released compared to the books release). But I think it’s clear Walter didn’t sexually abuse anyone. They were all lies that Josie told (or maybe legitimately believed). The bonus chapter has Erin say that her mum didn’t do any of those terrible murders they themselves said she did. I think Erin has gone along with the lies because she is scared of Roxy still. So
Roxy killed Brooke for the reasons everyone here has mentioned - she had an anger disorder and flew into a rage and lost control.
