I'm shocked more reviewers aren't picking up on this and that the publishers aren't mentioning it in the marketing material. As a big fan of Tudor England, I loved it! It's an entertaining rendition of Queen Elizabeth's life.

Yes, and I would venture that it isn’t vague at all but clearly modeled after Henry VIII and his wives. The names and circumstances of many of the characters are exactly the same.

The parallels to Henry VIII, his first four wives, and his three children hit me while reading chapter 41. I was wondering if others had any feedback on this, and what the purpose of this was.

The author notes in the Acknowledgements that the "Tudor dynasty provided the earliest inspiration" and I didn't see the connection as I know very little about this period. How interesting! Now I want to read about Elizabeth the 1st. Thanks for this. Agreed that this could have been better marketed.
