I feel like that was kind of the point- Andrew let her get “punished” for things that weren’t even her fault.

Agree with Dayna- it was not a mistake. Showed she could not have done it, but she took the blame for it anyway. Also highlighted the mother had similar odd ways of noticing similar odd errors in behavior and making a big deal about it

I caught that too! I had to reread the scene. It was confusing because she said something like, "Who knows? I could've left the lights on." No, you couldn't! You just got home from the hospital!!!! LOL
