Goodreads asked R. Rachel Gauna:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

R. Rachel Gauna Recently, my dead father's house was broken into. Two weeks before, my neighbor noted that two people walked by and appeared to have been scouting his house. "They were wearing masks," he said. Later, when he showed me the video, they were not covid face masks, as I originally imagined, rather they were what could be considered halloween masks -- scary halloween masks. What we learned is that these two people had made their way into my dad's house. They wore his clothes, slept in his bed, showered in his tub. And, they ate food that was years old. The worst part is they used this time to go through his entire life, and mine. They brought what they wanted to take down to the first level and had it organized to move out quickly. My other neighbor arrived home from work a few minutes later and started asking questions. He thwarted their plan, and like cockroaches, the whole team of people living in the house scattered into the shadows... into places that could not be captured by camera. Who were these people. Who were they hoping to become. Had they done this before?
