Hi Joe, I just wanted to say The Soul of Baseball was the best baseball book I had ever read. Then along came The Baseball 100 and wow, what an amazing book. Easily my favorite baseball book of all time. I am really, really looking forward to Why We Love Baseball: A History in 50 Moments! What was your favorite book to write?

Thanks for the question Justin. I'll never write a book that means more to me than Soul, of course. Spending all that time traveling around the country with my friends Buck O'Neil and Bob Kendrick, I mean, it can't possibly get better than that.
But I will say that writing WHY WE LOVE BASEBALL was just SO much fun. Each book is rewarding in its own way, obviously, but I am so excited for people to see this one because even though it's not about me at all, it's probably my most personal book. And I had fun with it every single day.

Hello, Mr. P. The Baseball 100 is 5 stars through and through! What a page-turner. Proves that the romance of this sport keeps us coming back time after time, right? And that it's the individual players that we really grow attached to, maybe more than the teams. You showed not only what a fine researcher and storyteller you are but also what a big heart you have. Thanks!

(1/2) I'm not a young man, so I don't do much fan mail. But I wanted to share something with you. (I have to include ? for this is post). I have zero interest in magic, up close or big stage. But my brother did. He loved all things magic, and did some tricks for co-workers, family members, friends. And he loved to read about magic as well.

Joe...just finished the Baseball 100 and absolutely loved it. Here's an idea for your next book: the Baseball 9723-9624. The same kind of book, but about the most average of the 20K or so players who have played MLB? Maybe it's too soon to write it after the work that you put in on BB100...but I'd be first in line to read it if you did. Thanks.
