Azu asked Josh Lanyon:

Good evening. I am looking forward to seeing your work from Japan. By the way, I was talking to a Japanese AoM fan online just now, and I was wondering why Jason didn't have a formal girlfriend until his mid-30s, even though he is handsome and seems to be very popular? Did Jason have the same trauma of not being able to find a girlfriend as Sam did? Or was it because of his character issues?

Josh Lanyon Well, Jason knew from an early age that he was gay, so he would have little interest in girl friends. Although we know from the series he had many friends who were girls.

We know from his recollections in the Mermaid Murders that his friend Honey had a crush on him--and he had a crush on the homophobic deputy, who, ironically, had a crush on Honey.

Other than Honey's murder, I don't think Jason had any trauma in his life until he was shot in the line of duty.
