Juliet, both your series of Blackthorn and Grim, plus the Warrior Bard series are just great stories. I really feel that a good map is essential to both of these sets of books and reader's enjoyment. Why is there no map in the Blackthorn and Grim and 3 Warrior Bard novels books?
Juliet Marillier
Hi Carol,
In hindsight, yes, it would have been useful to include a map for those two series. Geographically they are set in the north of Ireland, where the territories named (Kingdom of Breifne, Dalriada etc) were real places back in earlier times. I did take some liberties with the geography for purposes of better storytelling! One is that Inis Eala is not a real place. Because those books are already published, the only way a map could be added now would be for some kind of special edition, and I don't see the publishers doing that, sadly.
I hope I might get a map included for the new series (first instalment coming out in 2025.) But can't promise.

Just finished cybele’s secret and I so wish there was another book! Is this something you may self publish? I think this series came out right before these types of books got huge! I love the story of the sisters and the other world and the romance!! What an amazing read to both! I started wildwood dancing when I was 14 and I wish I knew there was a second book back then! Not enough advertisement went throughs it!

Hi Juliet, There isn't enough room here to say how much your books mean to me, but I wouldn't be who I am today without them. Thank you, for everything, and for Sevenwaters most of all. I stumbled onto the FAQ page on your website, and under the Errors section, I see you mention a character who dies then miraculously pops up again in a later book – who was this character, before he was renamed in the reprint?
