Do your book characters talk to you, and if they do have you had to change something in the story because of it?

Very often. Usually they say, "Ummm...I wouldn't do that," when I've given them a response that doesn't really suit their personality. Then I have to ask, "What would you do then?" And they tell me. (I've learned it's best to go along with them.)
