Gina Elle asked Lena Dunham:

My question for you Lena, has to do with your writing process. The chapters we've read from Not That Kind Of Girl are obviously final drafts but approximately how many drafts or versions did you write/edit/revise/rewrite/delete or cry over (or not) before the final ones? Did you actually write them in the order in which they've been published? Many thanks. Your book made me laugh out loud. You're brilliant!

Lena Dunham I revise a LOT, sometimes up to 3 drafts a day. I keep all my drafts so I can go back and see if I miss anything. As for writing in order, the book was written in a totally insane order (last chapter way early on, intro towards the end of the process.) My editor Andy Ward was also amazing in helping me to know when to push and when to stop fussing.
