Congratulations on the success of your book Lena! I am a huge fan,from Tiny Furniture to Girls (which my boyfriend introduced me to)-your amazing! But,I was slightly confused by the title of this book 'Not That Kind Of Girl'.For me, this emulates the phrase 'I'm not like other girls' which is the epitome of girl hate.As an admirer of your work and feminist beliefs,I was confused.Can you explain this title?

Lena Dunham HI! So happy you like the show and the movie:) I was definitely trying to make the title inclusive-- and to make it clear that there is no KIND of girl-- there are just as many versions of womanhood as there are of manhood. We are sick of being lumped into categories (virgin, whore, dumb blonde, cutthroat business woman.) We are each our own kind, and we are all capable of surprising the world (and ourselves.)
