Hi! I absolutely love 'No time for Goodbye' and 'Never look away'. What gives you the ideas for these books? Because the storyline is unlike anything I have read before. At some points the ending in the books seemed obvious and I was all 'Should I even finish this book, I literally know how its gonna end.' But I've learnt not to underestimate your books, and they are awesome! From Tamar.

Thanks for those very kind words, Tamar. Ideas just come, sometimes in the middle of the night. Sometimes they are triggered by events in the news or my own life. I just need one good one per year...

Congratulations on your great success Mr. Barclay. I have to marvel at how you can continuously come up with new, different and compelling themes in a (relatively) short period to keep producing-by contrast, I endured about 4 years of Balkan upheaval just to come up with the full story for my new novel about Macedonia. So: what's your strategy in planning for future books? How far ahead do you create structures?

I'm looking forward to Whistle! I love your books and 'voice.' Years ago, I read the Promise Falls series and those books really inspired me to get back into serious fiction writing. I sometimes struggle with how much to 'plot' ahead versus how much to 'follow the story' where it leads as I'm in the trenches of drafting. Just curious what your approach is?
