Beth asked Lena Dunham:

Your book is a great inspiration for me personally and is filled with a lot of refreshingly honest stories that I feel can resonate with a lot of women. With the word "feminism" popping up around the news and social media more and more these days, I'm wondering how and if that had an impact on your writing style? How do you define "feminism", and what advice would you give to any females who want to write a novel?

Lena Dunham I was raised by a vocal feminist and in a community of feminists. For them it meant rejecting patriarchal demands and ensuring that their daughters have access to the full range of reproductive rights, wage equality, and relationships free of sexual and emotional violence. For me it also means that but it really means EQUALITY. I am a woman, it's the biggest factor in my identity, and feminism is the lens through which I view the fight for equality and freedom on ALL fronts (racial, religious, sexuality...) Being a feminist informed my book because it's informed every day of my life on earth. As for a novel, I've never written one but want to try so we both need advice!
