Chuck
Chuck asked Frances Mayes:

In reading your descriptions of the villas and countryside, I was struck at the vividness; I felt like I was there as I read the words. How much of your writing is inspired by your experience, and how follows the flow of the storyline? Where does your imagination take over from what you have seen and touched?

Frances Mayes If I understand your question, I'll say that for me, imagination and experience--when I sit down to write--are intertwined. My memoirs, of course, are true to experience but I hope I bring my imagination to the language in trying to convey experience. Make sense???
