Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Tom Greer I'm a big fan of spy fiction, especially Cold War spy fiction. The idea for "An Expendable Spy" came to me when I was staying in Amsterdam (where coincidentally I'll be this time next week) several years ago. Amsterdam features quite heavily in the first part of novel.

I wanted to write a spy novel, but set in the heart of the Cold War as our present protagonists don't interest me that much.
