Goodreads asked Thomas Lloyd Qualls:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Thomas Lloyd Qualls That's a hard one. (1) I might echo what I said about the diving board. Just walk out to the end and jump. Don't over-think it; (2) Writing is hard. It is a good idea to get used to that idea as soon as you can; (3) The only way to become a better writer is to keep writing, and to keep writing; (4) these days, when you are finished with the writing, you are just beginning; (5) Don't give up. Don't lose faith; (6) If you do the thing I said not to do in # 5, then don't do it for very long. Get back up. Keep going -- what else are you going to do?
