Goodreads asked Deborah McTiernan:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Deborah McTiernan Start by reading everything you can get your hands on. I love to read and learn a great deal every day by studying the work of other authors.

Then, get yourself into the habit of writing for at least fifteen minutes a day. Don't censor yourself, just get the words on the page. Keep in mind, no matter what you write, nothing is ever wasted, and then watch those pages add up.

If you only write a single page every day or even every other day, by the end of one year you will have accumulated anywhere from 183 to 365 pages. That is one or two books!
