How do you deal with writer’s block?

Cara Black I think when I'm writing - and it doesn't feel fresh or exciting - I stand back and think what's missing here, what's not on fire? I et that feeling stay. After awhile it often comes to me that the characters motivation isn't coming through to me or on the page. That makes me think hard and once the motivation for each character gets clear I'm off.
