How do you get inspired to write?

S.L. Thorne I often ask myself what if questions. Mercy's Ransom started as a 'What if a pirate caught a mermaid' question. I brooded on it and then started dreaming. I would think out it when I woke, as I fell asleep, etc. It was one of those I resisted writing, but my muse was having none of that. I finally started to write and felt so much better about it. I posted it to elfwood, but had no intentions of real publishing, but for one of my fans who insisted I publish it. Thanks Ron Kilpatrick!
