My most recent published book is a sequel. What's different about it is that I revised it from conventional third-person, past-tense, to first-person, present tense and changed the POV to an entirely different character, a 13-year-old girl. So the "idea" is a continuation of a post-apocalyptic story, but from a different survivor POV.
