Erica asked Elizabeth Wein:

Hello! I love your books! I was wondering what happened to Ityopis Anbessa? When Sofya and Telemakos talked about who might be the emperor's heir, she said her brothers were dead, sequestered, ruling Himyar or in Britain. But the last I heard, Ityopis was free, in Askum and didn't seem useless or dangerous, so now I wonder if he died or moved to another country or something. (I hope he didn't die, I really liked him!)

Elizabeth Wein WOW, what an interesting question! Sofya was making a gross generalization there, but my feeling is that the emperor probably wants to keep power out of the hands of the Anbessa brothers. Historically speaking, none of these people ever becomes emperor of Aksum, so I confess I didn't think about it too hard. My answer would certainly be that there's no reason he should be dead! He's probably keeping his head down. :D
