Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Emily Devenport My inspiration usually comes from a vivid dream. The ideas behind the book have sometimes been percolating for a while (possibly years), inspired by anything from a news report to a conversation. But those bits and pieces may swirl around for a long time, until I dream a scene or two. Those vivid scenes spark the compulsion to write.

Now that I'm a day hiker, I've also had ideas that sparked while I was hiking. All that blood flowing to the brain does some good.
