This is an excellent question! You know there were only three Oracle Queens known to history: Queen Bethel the Pious, Queen Lauriel, and of course, our dear Queen Elsabet the mad. Their quickening demonstrations would have looked a lot more like magic tricks--along with some flowery fortune telling and some theatrical trances. It's only recently (within the last several hundred years, after the end of the oracles) that Quickening Ceremonies have become such a show of strength--in the past the demonstrations were more a celebration of the gift.

Hi, I was just wondering about you short story "Winter"? I see it listed, but I can't find where to buy/read it. The link on the goodreads page says it's been deleted from that site, so I'm wondering if it's still available to read at all? (Also just going to throw in that I love your writing style and I get beyond thrilled when I find more of your work to read! Horror is my favorite genre and you nail it)
