Why are people rating a book 5 stars that has not been released yet? This is not the first time I notice it happening and I can't stop wondering how big the percentage of fake reviews is on this site.

Amanda Dibble They're just excited for the book to come out and want to show their support. The review will probably change or stay the same based on how much they liked the book once they've actually read it.
Sai Because, despite the fact this same sort of question has been asked literally thousands of times regarding thousands of different books demonstrating the same misleading situation, GoodReads has repeatedly chosen to do nothing about the problem. Yes, it is frustrating... I've lost count of how many times I was misled into thinking a book I had been waiting for had released, because I saw it had dozens (or even hundreds of ratings) only to be disappointed when I realized it was just people posting ratings for a book they hadn't even read because it hadn't even been published. I know others who've experienced the same disappointed and frustration. It's also baffling... because how does GoodReads not realize how all these ratings on unpublished books severely damages the credibility of the site??? Yet it unequivocally does as evidenced by the thousands of questions/comments/etc on this subject which have expressed negative reactions to the issue.
