Goodreads asked Douglas Richardson:

How do you get inspired to write?

Douglas Richardson I'm often asked where I get my [crazy] ideas for my books. I answer that over the decades I have stashed a bunch of miscellaneous pictures and events up in my mental attic. Periodically, I go up, throw a bunch down, line 'em up around the room, and then lash them together with bungee cords (which are springy, elastic and removable, if necessary). With the images thus tied together, a story always emerges.
