I just finished Playing with Fire. IT WAS SO GOOD! I want to be an author when I grow up, and I am definitely inspired by your AMAZING BOOKS! I am a freshman in high school (in Oregon), and am thinking about writing a book, but I don't know what to write about. How do you come up with ideas for your books?

April Henry I pay attention to anything interesting I see in the news. I even subscribe to true crime reporting from People. Of course, Playing with Fire was based on the 2018 Eagle Creek Fire. On my website, aprilhenry.com, I have a whole section devoted to writing, including a whole bunch of prompts that might spark your interest. I also have a TikTok devoted to writing called AprilHenryWritingAdvice.
