Well, I've read a lot of books that have resonated with me although I wouldn't say they influenced me other than to encourage me to take risks. John Fowles was an early and profound influence because he never wrote the same book twice and he was always "out there". Sometimes his books were successful. Sometimes they weren't. But he always wrote what he wanted to write.

I just finished Something to Hide, and continue to be enthralled with this series, and your writing. (I consider you to be the equal of the great P.D.James.) Why do you, an American, set your books in England? I can think of numerous possible reasons, but I'd love to know.

I found my first Lynley book in the crew mini library, about 15 years ago, while working on cruise ships. I became a fan right away, and in the next few years I read all your other books. Trying to understand how John Fowles influenced you, I recently read "The Collector", and, as I arrived to the chilling end, I thought a sequel written by you would be amazing. Have you ever considered something like that?
