If she was inspired by your understanding of stoicism, what was Mad inspired by? There is the most profound observation by her that ( Paraphrasing) While religion is based on faith, the other way round is not correct, It is profound, in fact Socratic. I recently read Primo Levi's periodic table and Gleick's Genius: Life and science of Richard Feynman, some how both seemed a source of your beautiful book on human life.

Bonnie Garmus Mad is really just herself. While I've always been a fan of Matilda (Roald Dahl), I wanted Mad to understand things at a different level and she does, thanks to her close relationship with Six-Thirty. He's the wisest one in the book.

Bonnie, I never wanted this book to end! Would you consider doing a series? (I'm thinking something like Tales of the City with each book featuring a character in Mad's family tree. Yes, maybe even Six Thirty! (since he's now so literate and all.))

I had parents who encouraged me to believe I had no limits, but male bankers and men in general kept me confined even as I owned my own business. Had to have my ex-husband's name on my credit card, for example. To avoid (yet another) banker's rejection, my brother went to lenders, sitting silently beside me?
