Later in the book on pg. 365 when Salahudin is in jail, he starts writing down all the memories that his father told him about his mother. This is confusing because some of these lines are identical to the parts in the Misbah chapters (ex. "The sky over Lahore was purple as a gossip's tongue..."). Though, I agree that the Misbah chapters were from his mother's point of view as they give insight into her emotions, feelings, and childhood that Salahudin could not know fully.
