Goodreads asked Alicia Deters:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Alicia Deters Never say you can't do it. Don't try to compare yourself to other writers because that will always be a losing battle. It's not about being good enough in comparison to others. It's more about being happy with your own work. I struggled with this for a long time, and I feel like it held me back for so long because I never felt like my book was ever going to be worthy of being on a shelf. I had to constantly remind myself that this was about my dream of writing books. I eventually let go of the feeling of inadequacy as a writer. Your writing style is uniquely your own, so it's impossible to compare with someone else's style.
