A Goodreads user asked Rick Riordan:

What's the weirdest place you've written parts of a book?

Rick Riordan My classroom, back when I was a full-time teacher, I guess. I would write parts of The Lightning Thief while I was proctoring final exams. I've written in all kinds of cool places since then, though: a cruise ship balcony overlooking Barcelona, a terrace in Paris with a view of the Eiffel Tower, a creepy old mansion/hotel in Grantham, England, and lots and lots of hotel rooms all over the U.S. while I am on a book tour. The one thing I can't do is write while I am in motion, on a train, car, plane, whatever. I get motion sickness. I can't read while moving, either.
