Hard to say where the inspiration came from. I don't think there's a single source, it just stems from my IRL experiences and whatever media I've consumed prior to and during writing. But, if I had to point to something in particular, it would probably be the Legendary Moonlight Sculptor series. The main character there is a greedy, scheming, manipulative piece of garbage that I can't help but love.
As for Fizzy, not sure what you would consider 'tech-magic,' but in-universe Artificers incorporate both scientific and arcane practices in their craft, so... yeah, I guess she would be.
